StockElec Demonstration

It is a web application hosted in Microsoft AZURE Cloud, it is composed of  a MySQL Database + WCF Service, and several clients from different technologies: WPF, XBAP, Silverlight and UWP. iOS and Android clients will be available soon.
You can easily try this one-page sample by installing one of the clients or browse to the silverlight website.

You will be able to:
  • Browse, Filter and Group the records stored in the database using pagination.
  • Add, Edit, Duplicate and Delete records.
The records represents electronic components: the capacitors used in the electronic industry with their common parameters.
The application is optimised for database access, it has a fluid and responsive interface with a customized design.
Silverlight Client

You can browse to the sample client at:

https://stockelecsilverlight.azurewebsites.net/

You must use a Silverlight compatible browser like Internet Explorer and Install the plugin if prompted by the browser.

If you get a security warning, you can temporary add the website to the "Trusted Sites" and lower the security settings:

  • Settings ---> Internet options.

  • Tab "Security" , select "Trusted Sites" and click "Sites".

  • Here you can add the address.

  • Disable "Protected Mode" on the same page.

UWP Client

You can browse to the sample client at:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/store/apps/stockelecuwp/9nblggh4x2r6

Or if you have windows 10 you can go to the store in the start menu and do a search for "DCGB" or "StockElec"  by example.

You can install this sample on any Windows 10 machine.

WPF and XBAP Clients

You can find both installers at:

 https://stockelecpublish.azurewebsites.net/

Or separately at:

WPF: https://stockelecpublishstorage.blob.core.windows.net/stockelecwpfclient/publish.htm

XBAP: https://stockelecpublishstorage.blob.core.windows.net/stockelecxbapclient/publish.htm

The only difference between WPF and XBAP is how the application is executed. WPF runs like any others applications on the desktop, while XBAP are contained inside a browser.

XBAP are preferred to be used on intranet network for security reasons, and it makes it easier to upgrade all the clients at once because the application is not installed but accessed. With a standard WPF application, all the users must upgrade their own copy separately.

XBAP:

You need Internet Explorer to run the XBAP, and you need to activate the XAML browser applications in the settings:

  • Settings ---> Internet options.

  • Tab "Security" , select "Internet" and click "Custom Level".

If you get a security warning, you can temporary add the website to the "Trusted Sites" and lower the security settings:

  • Settings ---> Internet options.

  • Tab "Security" , select "Trusted Sites" and click "Sites".

  • Here you can add the address.

  • Disable "Protected Mode" on the same page.
